Stonehenge
이번 영국 여행의 최종 목적지에 왔다.
누가 영국이 변덕스러운 궂은 날씨라 했나.
연일 찌는듯한 더위와 따가운 햇살에 몸은 발갛게 익어 버렸다.
오늘, 그늘 한 점 없는 스톤헨지에서 마지막 뜸 들이기까지 완벽하게 마쳤다.
선사 시대의 거석기념물인 환상 열석 유적이다.
높이 8미터, 무게 50톤에 달하는 거석 여든여 개가 세워져 있다.
누가, 어떻게, 왜 만들었는지는 알 수 없다.
기대보다 못한 위용(?!)에 적잖이 실망하였다.
영국인들이 200여 년이나 지배하였던 인도의 거석 유물에 비하면.
스톤헨지는 애들 장난 수준에 불과했다.
